Archer Knight backs COVID-19 appeal to help vulnerable residents
Archer Knight : June 17, 2020
Donation will help Aberdeen charity support people in its homes feel less isolated
Archer Knight has backed an appeal to help an Aberdeen social care charity support people in its residential homes during the corona virus outbreak.
VSA, which marks its 150th anniversary, launched its COVID-19 appeal to make sure people in its 22 residential sites across Aberdeen do not feel alone or isolated. Although aspects of the lockdown in Scotland are being lifted, the charity still needs support to make sure the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people in our communities does not suffer.
Subsea market intelligence and consultancy company Archer Knight has donated £1,000 to VSA’s appeal.
Executive Director and co-founder Mike Watson said:
“We are delighted to be able to help a worthwhile cause like VSA, especially in these difficult times where vulnerable people may need increased levels of support. The fantastic work VSA does in the North East has not gone unnoticed at Archer Knight. It is extremely rewarding to offer our assistance knowing the charity is performing a vital role in looking after people’s loved ones within the local community.”
Jennifer Mitchell, Director of External Relations said:
“We are truly humbled by people's generosity in the face of such adversity and I cannot express enough how truly grateful we are to Archer Knight for the donation towards our COVID-19 appeal. The money donated will go towards helping support resident’s mental wellbeing and will help them maintain vital visual contact with loved ones.”
Donations to the fund go towards:
-
Tablets to help older residents make video calls to loved ones, maintaining vital visual contact.
-
Entertainment trolleys which include interactive digital technologies to keep residents’ minds stimulated
-
Providing mental health support and counselling sessions via video links
-
Recruiting more staff to provide care and support for vulnerable people.
Established in 1870, VSA has helped thousands of the most vulnerable people and their families living in our communities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Today, VSA provides vital support and services to people of all ages across four core areas, Children and Families, Adult and Community, Education and Learning, and Carers’ Support. VSA supports physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing through a range of residential and outreach support services.
